When it was fashionable to study in Europe, Pyle remained in the U.S., and developed subjects and styles uniquely American. He became a well loved teacher, passing on his knowledge and idealism to many artists, including N. C. Wyeth, Harvey Dunn, and Frank Schoonover. Pyle's art is well known in American history books, portraying the Revolutiuonary and Civil Wars. His work can also be found in many esteemed collections and museums. *
